Dave and Norie arrived early Saturday morning, and after running errands in Missoula, we headed right out. After the full tour, they decided to stay in the Honeybee. Being avid climbers, they’d already chatted with Damian and decided on a couple of spots to check out. Luckily we have two cars up here, so they were able to head out to climb for the day, and another day, to check out some lakes and trails. Love those independent visitors! Every night we got back together for dinner and games or a movie. Of course, they were able to enjoy a post-dinner round of shooting, and of course Dave took it to the next level by setting up cans to shoot in front of the target! We all took turns one-upping each other and looking at the moon through the telescope:
Can’t keep Lance off of the river for too long, so we had a float with no fishing:
Dave was rowing and I was enjoying the catbird sit, sitting up in a nice chair in the back. However, the water was getting pretty low and we hit a spot with waves and a hole and in the blink of an eye, I was popped out of my seat into the water. That was a first for me! Lance said when we made it through the hole he gathered himself and looked up, and, where is Debi? I grabbed on the rope on the side and they hauled me back in. Pretty good laughs and off we went. Fool me once…Back into the raised seat in the back and dontcha know, into an even bigger hole and I was thrown from my seat, up into the air, and landed by slamming my shins on the wide metal bar that makes up part of the boat frame. Needless to say (needless), I burst into tears (at first, they thought I was laughing) and sobbed for about 10 or 15 minutes. That hurt and my bones were aching. Dave checked it out and I had a 2 inch lump on one shin and a 6 inch long scrape and gouge on the other leg. Owee! Once I collected myself a bit, Dave held onto me while I hung over the side to put my legs into the cold water, and that felt a bit better. Someone came up with the brilliant idea of putting the big camelback bag onto the bruising, and that seemed to do the trick. I whined “I want to go home”, and everyone was very good about heading/rowing right to our take out point. More ice on the leg, and I recuperated enough to head to town to take Dave and Norie to the airport and then pick up Lance’s daughter Evelyn. Next!
