The Market! The Market!

Up at a leisurely pace, then Matt, Tay and I head out to the market. Past the flower market in the first square we come to, down another street into another square that holds the local market (both held daily except Sunday), and through some winding zig zags where we walk into the big market (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday). All markets open between 8 and 9, and close around 1. And man, have they got that drill down. If you walked into one of those squares at 2, you would never know what had been there because tables and canopienow covered the whole area, with people sitting and chatting.

We divide to conquer, but not before island by Tay, paralyzed, not know where to head first. One of the cheese vendors? Herb vendors? Fresh fruits or vegetables? Smoked meats? Tape adds and olives???? Tay shakes me out of it and we each do a little shopping. Matty covered the sausages (after enjoying the many free tastes) with his favorite, surprisingly, bull:

Tay digs into the fruits:

While I sample and purchase some veggies, stinky cheese and olives:

Back to the apartment to rouse Michael and sample all of our wares. We chill out for a bit, then all four head out to get the lay of the land. The weather is sunny and warm and we have a relaxing stroll around town. Impossible not to get lost in the winding alleyways, but we had nowhere to be!

Home later, we cook up a feast of mussels, pasta, eggplant and potatoes (boys!) while we drink wine and nibble on olives, artichoke hearts and octopus salad. What a way to go….a provencal feast.

I guess we’ll have to do the same thing tomorrow! Hahaha
