No room at the Inn

An hour and a half drive, two plane flights with a four hour layover, another one hour drive and a forty five (the five key nor the dash are working on this keyboard) minute boat ride from one medium size island to the little gangga island (while listening to Phoenix) and I’m here. (See link at the left Gangga Island Resort to see where it’s located and some pictures of what I talk about.) Unfortunately, my room is not. Evidently they had a contract for it to be done before today, but unbeknownst to the owner, Easter is the biggest thing around so every person must stop whatever they’re doing and wherever they’re doing it and head home for Easter lunch. So no beachfront villa for me. The four people arriving today get it (I know first come, first serve, but I agree with her reasoning that it’s easier to move one person than 4) and the owner offered me a room by the spa (usually a spa treatment room except in emergencies) or the send me to any other resort of comparable quality. Bummer. But, I looked at the room, then the villa and decided what the heck. I’m here and the place is really nice, as are the people, so why not give it a go. Reminds me sometimes of Fiji > stone paths meandering through jungley gardens, covered walkways with lanterns hanging above, open air dining area and bar facing the beach, friendly people always ready with a smile.  The owner was so apologetic about the problem, gave me fifty percent off of the week (excellent) and even agreed to hang dark curtains (mole woman strikes again). I thanked her and told her if that is her biggest problem this week, she can breathe easier now. I guess I’ll figure out how to suffer through my room that has two huge sliding glass doors onto the beach with a view of little islands off in the distance. It’s true that I am not in the more quiet, residential neighborhood, and have to “endure ” the noise from the pool and the surf, but you know what a trooper I am!!!
