Up and out to the local diner for breakfast. Then it’s time for city errands again. But first, we stop at the Met to see the special exhibit entitled: Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations.
Really cool to see how two female designers working 70 years apart have differing sensibilities and similar social outlooks.
By the time we get to the jewelry district and Stacey doesn’t remember exactly where her guy is, I’m getting anxious. She makes a call, but can’t get his location, so we head over to where we will enjoy an afternoon matinee. A quick lunch and then we slip into New York’s longest continuously running theatre, the Lyceum:
Venus in Fur is a “play within a play” with the premise of a woman auditioning for a play with the playwright. The dialogue in the play and between the audition scenes discussed the idea of domination and submissiveness and who prefers which and why. Very titillating subject matter, indeed. The female lead was INCREDIBLE (in fact, she won a Tony for her role on June 10).
We then head down to the east side and meet Michael for Indian food at Valerie’s favorite spot. Really pretty good, but we agree that we prefer the funkier, spicier side of things.
Stacey heads out to catch a train home, and Michael and I head back to the apartment. A bit of cribbage, laughing over some internet nonsense and off to sleep.
