June 5th, Lance and I flew up to Missoula, while Frank Rider drove up the U-Haul with all the furniture, linens, etc for the two cabins. Originally Lance and I were going to make the drive, but an irritated sciatica made that an unwise option. So, Frank arrived only about 30 minutes after us, and we took care of some errands in town (checking out windows, grocery shopping, etc) before dropping him at the airport and out to the land.
Upon arrival, we unload food items, and together assemble the bed, unload mattresses (with help from Mary Anne) and make up the bed. That’s enough until Caleb arrives tomorrow to help Lance unload and arrange everything. The Honeybee cabin is beautiful:
You can see the picnic table, the table with water container, and just next to that, out of sight, is the cook stove. Welcome to our outdoor kitchen! Between that, and the cooler you see on the front porch, which keeps ice for 5 days, we have a nifty set up in which to cook all kinds of gourmet meals:
The next morning, Caleb arrives and he and Lance get to work. First they stock up the Honeybush, off in the woods:
Here’s Caleb loading a mattress, and then he walked behind holding it all in place while Lance drove:
Everything then gets unloaded and set up in the Honeybee, and you can see the lovely interior:
Not too shabby! Lance and I enjoy some relaxing time once all the work is done. I particularly like sitting in my park bench, that overlooks the creek. Gotta get a pic on the next visit of that one.
Sunday afternoon we head to town to run a couple of errands, and Lance departs from the airport on the same plane which brings Miss Tay to me. We pick up a few books at Barnes & Noble and head on out. We have a couple days of reading, rummy 500, hiking and just being relaxed:
and in case you didn’t believe me about the good eatin’:
Did I mention the cutest shitter in the state of Montana?
And while I was there, asked about having some benches built with the leftover logs from the honeybee. While that was going on, I was down on the ground, analyzing and measuring to build a solid fire ring…which I fully expect to be continued to be built up over time. Oh, the songs and s’mores!!!
Damian and Chris came out one day and we spent a few hours finalizing plans, and toasting it all with some fine Patron. Such a restful time with nothing to do but read, enjoy the fire and the sound of the rushing creek, collect firewood and stare off into space. Looking forward to more of the same in July!!
