Sibling Solstice

The annual trek to Lee and Lisa’s house at Lake Anna took place June 19 – 22 this year; coinciding neatly with Stacey’s birthday. The girl of the day properly wore her birthday crown and was greeted by John and Paul first thing:

Per the norm, we all enjoyed our coffee and tea (Lisa had Bhakti chai, lugged all the way from Boulder!) before heading up to the house for breakfast. Camp Baydush added a beautiful, new dock, complete with gazebo, last summer, and it’s now the place to be. Whether you drag a chair out from under cover to catch rays, or spread out on the couch to read, it’s where we all congregate. Jeff and Stacey enjoyed a spin on the jet-ski:

and we all took turns on the designed-for-beginners paddleboards:

As you can see, Jefe is doing what Jefe does.

The lovebirds off the back (thanks Stephen!):

Also many attempts to sail, but the wind just seems to peter out once under way. Nevertheless, it’s a strenuous camp day, as evidenced by the afternoon siesta:

And a nice shot:

Dinner that night is a sumptuous affair:

What a fun day! Now all we have to do is wake up and do it again. Oh, and for anyone who’s in the know and wondering, we DID have chocolate pie for Stacey’s birthday cake. Leftovers went quickly; witness the shark:

Unfortunately, Saturday is overcast with intermittent rain. Time for the games to begin! Rummikub is a perennial favorite:

and Lance doesn’t have to wait 10 rounds before entering the fray this year. Sunday starts cloudy, but the sun burst out around noon and we all enjoy water games until it’s time to go. Betsy left before breakfast to catch Emma’s ballet recital, Stacey and Jeff hit the long road about 6 and Lee heads back to town around 7:30. Lisa and I play some Rummikub and then begin a 3 hour conversation. Then it’s off to bed. A beautiful Monday keeps us out on the dock and in the water until about 6:30, then she drives me to the Tellepsen’s. I stay for a few days to hang with Betsy and the kids – and I even get to see Tom for a bit. Dinner with Lee and Lil Winestone, and a glass of wine with Karen Krupsaw and my visit is complete. Until next year….
