that is the tempo.
A quiet day, as I am (once again) fighting off some kind of head cold. Breakfast, then up to the room to start working on the blog. After a while, i decide it’s time to get out and get some fresh air, and as I step out of the elevator, there’s Michael, signing in so he can stay in the hotel with me this evening.
I take him in to enjoy his hobbit “second breakfast”, and then we head down the street to a little cafe he knows, at my request to visit a place with good coffee. I’ve really missed that since leaving Iguazu.
I get a double cafe with milk, which surprisingly completely clears up my headache. I have a pretty good buzz and catch up on the past 3 days while he answers emails. Buy some beans to take home, then we hit the streets for some fresh air and a dip into the Juice Factory. I figure some veggie, fruit and ginger juice might help the system.
We ask for a recommendation for lunch, then set off to find a middle eastern restaurant that comes highly recommended.
A nice lunch with more yak, then a walk in the beautiful sunshine, another ice cream, and back to the hotel for a nap before our night out.
Out at 8 and walk down the block for a lovely dinner at Il Marterello. THe original was opened by two sisters in La Boca and received with much acclaim. The food was delicious and I didn’t eat much, so took back to hotel for Michael’s lunch on the plane. We then went on a long walk to Thelonious Jazz bar, and it was really a great place. Unfortunately, we arrived at about 11, and the first act was just finishing, and the second act, a great soul band, wasn’t due to go on until 1:30. Wayyyy too long for me to hang around drinking, so we paid for our beers and walked back home. Michael marked his calendar to check them out on the 21st, though.
