A Fairytale Princess

So, my annual trip down to Palm Beach to hang with mom was timed to include Ashley and Harriet Hoffman’s 60th anniversary celebratory weekend. The Hoffman’s are great loooongtime friends of Marilyn and Bill’s and a black tie dinner dance at Mar-a-Lago promised to be the fanciest party of my short life. For those of you who don’t know, Mar-a-Lago was the summer residence of Meriwether Post, heir to the Post/General Foods fortune. A short while back, the Donald purchased it and turned it into a private club, while saving part for his own residence.

Anywho, the Hoffmans are fond of Marilyn and Bill’s children, so we were all included for the festive weekend. I cannot express here how thrilled and excited I was to find just the right dress, have my hair put up and fancy make-up done. Way to enjoy the journey as well as the destination. As some of you know, I was the mom who told my daughter on the way out of the theatre that life was not at all like a Disney movie, that happy endings are often followed by fights, disruptions, and the mundane chores of every day life. But let me tell you, when my hair was finished

and I looked in the mirror, I felt like a fairytale princess for perhaps the first time in my life!  A pre-party photo shoot with Stacey and Jeff:

the whole ensemble (can you tell how much I loved all of this?):

The party, the band, the company, it was all amazing. Hors d’oeuvres by the pool

with a view to the perfectly manicured grounds, the intercoastal waterway, and the poolside chuppa where was held a lovely ceremony that shared so much of what can be beautiful in human relationships.
