Today we’re hiking on our own, down the road and first right up onto the green trail. It is truly a friendly jungle here, and everywhere is filled with life: people working on keeping the wild growth in check, planting coffee plants, harvesting or preparing their rice paddies:
and the occasional mellow, local moo:
It’s a lovely hike, and we’re back in about an hour and a half. We walk in to explore the garden (lots of their own organic produce served at meals) and enjoy the really big swing they have installed perfectly. I mean, right down to the little mound they’ve built from which to take off! Glorious gliding up and over part of the garden. We each give it a go and enjoy every second:
Everything is going at a slower and slower pace, and we wash shoes in the creek and ourselves in our outdoor shower, then head to lunch. At 2, we have a 90-minute couples massage in an outdoor, thatched bungalow that is open on all sides to the jungle. Mmmmmm…very nice!
We stumble back to our rooms and relax until 4 pm, when we hop in the car to head to see a traditional Indonesian dance show – the fire dance. John (owner) investigated and is sending us to Tanah Lot, the most visited temple in all of Bali, due to its breathtaking location on the ocean’s edge.
It is a tourist destination for sure, which is a real turn-off. No visible sunset due to clouds, so we walk around to find someplace to grab a bite to eat, which turns out to be pretty good, then hustle over to the site for the dance, which is not. It’s okay, but again, more touristy than the one I enjoyed on my last visit. Oh, well. Back in the van and home.
And another day has passed.
