Paris en Automne

Don’t expect the usual posts here. Mostly food porn and the occasional historical structures…

Arrival in our little courtyard apartment on the left bank:

off immediately to one of the top-rated patisseries in Paris for a snack. I’m sorry to say that they’ve all gone upscale and pretentious. No photos allowed inside of this one, which is one of the only with a female chef. I would like to go a bit more old school, but that’s just me. We purchase quiche and walk across the street to have a cafe with:

Next, we walk to the Catacombs, which neither of us had ever visited. A 1 mile underground walkway which highlighted the geological creation of that particular part of the ground, and then into the actual Catacombs. This subterranean site was a long time rock quarry of limestone for buildings. When the cemetaries around Paris filled and developers wanted to use the land, bones from 150 cemetaries were stacked and arranged in the empty space left by the quarry.

We have to esio trot right through there so as to hurry back to the apartment, change and head out for our reservation at L’Ange 20. Oh my! Thank you Alex…. it’s a teeny tiny place in Le Marais. I’m amazed by the thinly shaved smoked duck breast (like proscuitto) and sliced, confit, pan seared gizzards. First of my life and I don’t think you’ve ever had them like this:

and Lance oohs and aahs over his pate:

then the main course: rabbit back stuffed with chorizo, mushroom reduction,  and fresh egg noodles. Lance had duck confit and sliced duck breast. mmmmmm:

then jiggedy jig all the way home to sleep!
