The Long and Winding Road

A stop at the souvenir tent after breakfast, then homeward bound. The ride home was much drier than the ride up. Well planned stops every hour or hour and a half helped the journey pass quickly. But by the end of the day, my butt bones were yelling! So happy to get into a hot bath and not have to swing my short, strong leg over that bike one more time. I could get it over okay, particularly with the step up on the peg, but getting down was another story! I would put one leg down and then try to pull the other leg over the bike and onto safe ground. However, it never quite went smoothly. I would have to hop up and down on the grounded foot as I start to lose my balance waiting for its companion to join it, or perhaps the boot heel would get caught on the seat and require major cursing (which did help immensely), or perhaps I would just be too tired to really think about what I was doing. In any case, I never felt like I could do a smooth, James Dean, cool as a cucumber dismount. Definitely have to ride on a lower bike, or get higher heeled boots! Hanging up the leathers until the next adventure….
