Big City Bound

Travel day! On the road at 8 am, with the usual 20 minute stop at the coffee house while the van filled up with petrol. The usual 1 1/2 hour line to check in luggage. A stop for food in the airport restaurant, then boarded our 3 1/2 hour flight from Punta Arenas to Santiago. As usual, the driver meeting us was 10 minutes late, and then we were flying along to our hotel, through the city. Coincidentally, the driver told us he had been a guide at the hotel we’d just left – small world – and complimented us on the location of our hotel: The LaStarria Boutique. A few blocks down from us was LaStarria Street, and filled with restaurants and handicraft stores.

After we checked into our handicap room right across from reception, we walked down to the happening street, and walked until we found Mulato, a restaurant that looked pretty good. We had been referred to Bocanariz, known for Chilean wine pairings with tapas, but neither of us was in the mood for wine. So we settled (hah!) for some incredible ceviche with a Pisco Sour Ginger for me:

And a big salad with fried, fresh seafood:

Sated and tired from the long day of travel, we walked back to our place and quickly fell into bed and a deep sleep.
