Dani & Ian Santa Monica Wedding-fest

Hey there, all you folks who don’t live in LA. The whole fam damily headed to shiny Santa Monica to celebrate the nuptials of stylist Dani Michelle and photographer Ian Morrison. Affectionately known to the rest of the world as Dani and Ian, my wonderful niece and nephew.

Cocktails by the pool at one grand hotel and then the big do at the Casa del Mar right on the beach. But you wouldn’t have known it from the abundance of beautiful white flowers and trees canopying the room where the wedding took place. All the beautiful (inside & out) people were there

after the early afternoon prep, of course:

a moving ceremony, and the bride, being a stylist and all, wore 4 different gowns and the mothers of the bride and groom, plus the female attendants, all enjoyed a change of outfit as well. As befits our locale and the bride’s oeuvre.

The most amazing thing to this reporter is that for the first time EVER, I got to dance as much as I wanted. and I wasn’t the only one:

Truly danced out. At one point, near the end of the killer band set, I had to put my feet up they were aching so. I looked around and noticed I was the only non-parent of the bride or groom person over the age of 45 in the room. Yay! I was mesmerized my my chickens cutting the rug (of which there was none) so joyfully:

As if that wasn’t good enough, when the band finished after midnight, two willowy women DJ’s came on and I was forced to get up and dance once again. Too busy to check out the 1 am chicken fingers and doughnuts or whatever it all was.

Brunch the next day, courtesy of mom, was stellar and just what the doctor (or should I saw Hangover) ordered. The party scattered slowly and I headed to the airport for San Fran and a visit with Diedre and Julian and a reunion with my Hoffman Institute roommate, Heather. All were wonderful and fun. Got to hike in the redwoods and Heather gifted me items for my upcoming experience in the desert at Burning Man.
