A House Call

It was a long, easy trip. Slept on first ride from DC to Sao Paolo, but hard to shake the sleeping pill. Stopover for almost 3 hours, then a second, two-hour plane ride. Met at the airport by my driver and took a 70 minute ride on the highway through lush, rolling terrain until we reached Abadania, my head bobbing and weaving all the way.

Arrived at Pousada Irmao Sol & Irma Lua and shown to my room , which is about 12 x 12, all white and pretty basic with two twin beds.

I fell on the bed and drifted off listening to someone else being shown their room. I suddenly realized that someone was holding my hand and someone else had their hand on my lower back asking about my sleeping problems, both of them behind me.

These two men talked and a third, quieter man spoke from in front
of me, as if sitting on the other twin bed. One of them asked me to
breathe deeper, and I did, but still I needed to breathe deeper. I
tried to open my eyes to see if I could see the hand holding mine,
because it was so real, but could not. Someone asked me if I had an idea of what was causing my sleep problems and I told them what I thought. The man with his hand on my back said it would begin soon (my healing? My sleeping better?) and then they were gone and I opened my eyes and was immediately awake.

Did the entities visit me or was it a dream? Does it matter? I can’t wait to experience that again. I can see why people come back here, and I’ve barely gotten started.

I walked out of my room to get the Internet password and ran into my guide, Marina, who was coming to meet me and see what I needed. She could tell I was shaken up (in a good way), and we chatted for a moment and she said she could tell I needed some time alone, and would be back at dinnertime. I hope I don’t forget what that was like. It was like everything I’d heard about was all true; around here, you only need to ask for help to get it.

Will write again when it’s time.
