Arrived with no problem, loaded up the car, headed to REI for stove fuel and then the Good Food grocery store (I’d swear it was a Whole Foods) before hitting the road for the land (have GOT to come up with a name). I couldn’t help but stop and get out to walk a bit with Matt and Lance. Hard to believe it’s really mine. After a bit, we drove down to Hole In the Wall to check in, even though we all ended up camping on-site the first night. Came back, set up camp in the woods:
and continued initial exploration. Really shocked to see that previous owner’s friend set up all of his bees on the land (note all the boxes in the middle left area, surrounded by a wire fence with a solar-powered charge attached to keep out wild animals); someone forgot to tell him that it changed owners! I have a message from him and will discuss the honey in exchange for bee land deals he has all over the valley. Yummm!
Settled in and got used to the constant hum of bees. Only took a bit of time to realize they had other things on their mind besides us! Ate a simple dinner and climbed in our tents for a first night’s sleep in our new digs. No stars out tonight – pretty cloudy!
