Evelyn arrived two hours after Dave and Norie took off. We scooped her up, had dinner in town, then headed out to suwarrow. She, too, decided to cozy up in the Honeybush.
Lance was delighted to have his girl here and kept her going almost every moment! Learning to ride the dirt bike, floating on the river, hiking in the hood and playing games. She took time out to study for her upcoming exam, but we still managed to fit in lots of fun. Even, finally, a drive to the Idaho border, and a 15-mile bike ride on the Hiawatha Trail. It runs along a former railroad line and it was incredibly fun to ride through the first tunnel, a bit more than a mile long, using our lights and laughing at everyone having fun with the echoes. Through the tunnels, down the trail, across old trestle bridges, listening to music – it’s an incredible adventure.

One interesting factoid: there used to be an express train that forced all others to pull over and let pass. It was the silk train, transporting perishable silk from the Far East, via the Pacific Coast, out east for fashion designers. Who’d have thought?
A long walk through the suwarrow trail, putting on more markers:
and it was just a delight to have Evelyn’s energy, help, smiles and good nature around. So sorry to see you go, my dear!
