Okay, Deb, it’s been over 7 months since you’ve worked on this post, so a group of photos is all you get. Can’t remember where and what at this point, nor will you when you’re reading this in the future (aka: right now!). Just enjoy the wild and warm experience of visiting such a foreign existence. Shows, smiles and wonder on both sides. Ending with some mediocre (Walindi) and then incredible (Tufi) diving. Had the dive boat to ourselves at the latter and second time weeping under water from the beauty, variety, health and abundance of the reef and all of its inhabitants. And first ever hammerhead sharks (even if they are the smaller kind, they’re big enough for me!

Then we headed to a village for an overnight homestay. It was raining and the road provided a challenge that brought the whole village out to help and laugh. Some things are universal!

Children were following us on the walk, giggling and stopping in their tracks whenever I turned around to look. At some point, I starting walking with them, and then singing an old camp song. They LOVED it and as soon as I finished my song, they started singing and didn’t stop until we were back in the village. An indelible memory that connected me with the universal love that is a constant anywhere on this earth and in this existence if hearts are open.
The next morning after breakfast was a traditional wedding dance, and you just know I had to get up and join. An older woman was going to put some make-up on me and I just leaned over to rub noses to get some of hers and everyone laughed. Isn’t creating laughter the most intoxicating drug? For me, it is right up there.

then departure after I pulled out my iPad to show them photos of snow, the mountains and suwarrow,

and the road was expected to be just as iffy. so a crowd of men joined us on our large bus,

and we all got out so they could push through the break in the road. while that was going on, i asked about and they made me a traditional head ornament:

then off to our two diving resorts. evidently not many photos of that, but a view from where we ate meals:

Aaah. What an adventure. Thank you, Mr. Drew, for being an ideal travel companion for one of the top listings on my “to do before I die” list.
