La Antigua & Acapulco

Today I opted for a ride to the town of La Antigua and a walk-about on my own. Ferdinand Koffee shop was my first stop and i enjoyed my cup. Even wandered into their open air garden and into the area where they were roasting their beans:

and making their own chocolate bars. But once you have a stash of Chapon, no need to purchase chocolate bars anywhere else!

It was easy to see why this town, founded in the early 1500’s, is designated as a UNESCO Heritage site. Famous archway:

and former governor’s palace walls, etc:

A short 3-hour visit, and the long ride back to the boat. As you can see from the featured image, the brightly colored, hand-woven materials were everywhere. Back on the boat and off to Acapulco, where I’ve never been and have no desire to go. I spent one hour walking along the beach to confirm my perspective, then headed back from whence I came. NYE dinner found me seated at a table for 8. Dinner, decorations, raffle and dancing. However, I endured the oldies through the meal, but when YMCA came on before dessert was served, I bolted out of there and headed upstairs to enjoy the stars and some peace and quiet. We all adjourned to the 8th floor open pool/deck are to watch the fireworks from the water. There were 5 stations all along the bay and a nice show. And, here we are in 2018!
