Into The Groove

Yesterday Taylor and I were plotting to move the whole trip to land – tummies in revolt. Lack of sleep, a bit of chop and general need to adjust all contributing factors. Staring at the horizon, a rock, a lighthouse….anything! Landed in Positano about 5 and jumped right on that dang water taxi into town.So touristy, but had to stop because of the way Stacey and Jeff always ooh and aah about it. Walked around a bit, an okay dinner, excellent gelato, then back to the boat. Feeling much better after some land time.

Woke up to rock and roll, and not in a good way. Boat just going flap-a-dap-a-doo back and forth. The only good thing about it – and that was mighty good – was I was feeling fine. But who could sleep? Woke up early and then everyone was up earlier than usual. Hopped on a water taxi for an excellent Italian cappucino, a bit of breakfast and a visit to pharmacia for acupuncture wristbands for Tay and I. Seas calmer, we’re back on the boat and head out. Tay and I are sailing fine with our patches and finally, finally, the sails went up!!!

The motor was off (wind either not strong enough or in the wrong direction before) and the boat moved so much more smoothly through the water. A bit of bridge and lots of chatting

and enjoying the incredible coastal views, and pretty soon we arrive at Cetara, a small fishing village. All the towns are built into cliffs of rock rising out of the sea…dotted with old turrets and castle buildings. Just cruising through the water and remembering to look up in amazement is wonderful…am I in a Fellini movie? Headed through town a whole 3 or 4 minutes to arrive at Al Convento. Tavolo per otto, per favore. Just loved our anchovy antipasti (fried, fresh, on garlic toast, and made into meatballs), risotto frutti di mare

and ziti with tuna and a most unusual, yummy sauce. And the traditional dessert which was light as a cloud:

Captains Masoner and Bondarovich skippered us back and forth

in two trips on the Musa’s dinghy, a quick change into swimsuits and we were swimming in the sea. Brisk, but so fun!

Photo op finished, back onto the boat and a quick shower and shampoo with hot water hose on back of the boat. What a life!

Settimio and I worked on the itinerary for the next couple days, so we can keep at this nice pace without having a loooong (like 20 hours) day sailing to get to Sicily. And then underway with a combination of sailing and motoring (yes, Ida) until we arrived at Agropoli to dock for the night. Beautiful sunset,

then I’m dancing on the front of the boat to the Beasties, living large, walking through town and eating pizza like it’s my job!

Liking this pace…
