La Familia

After the trip to Boulder, I return to prepare for two straight weeks of visitors. I land on Thursday, and Jesse (the premier craftsman on my house) arrives with his wife and son. Our time together included dinner, games, photos of his handiwork and enjoying sleeping in the cabin he helped to build. They departed Friday, just before lunchtime, and I had the place all to myself for the first time since moving in! Yes, indeed, I walked around naked (one of the 4 conditions throughout my property search: that I could walk around my house naked and no one could see me) and enjoyed the solitude.

Around midnight, Michael and Matt arrived. It was great to see them, and they spent the days fishing (found a great fishing hole where they caught over 15 trout) and put in many hours helping prep and pour sandlock on the patio:

On Monday, August 3rd, I head into town to pack the car with groceries, pick up Stacey at the airport, then head out to suwarrow.  Meanwhile, Mr. Matt has decided not to throw back one of his live ones, and enjoys the pesce of his labor:

Stacey gets the grand tour, and we head out to the garden to talk to the girls and bring in the day’s harvest:

and we begin a big raw salad for dinner:

The next day we take the boys to the bus station in town, as they head down to the southeast to meet up with Lee and Marilyn for 4 days of fly-fishing paradise (and gluttony) at the Firehole Ranch:

The next day, Stacey and I have a perfect day at camp. A morning hike at Cache Creek (where she promptly loses her sunglasses), then lunch, work in the garden (and what a delight to observe us each chatting and singing to the plants in opposite corners), an outdoor shower, then dinner. And dinner? Thank you Nikki and Amir for my gifts from Italy! We enjoyed truffle risotto with porcini mushrooms, with a side of sauteed eggplant, string beans and fresh basil from the garden. And, oh! How about a poached egg dropped into that risotto! Hedonism at its best:

Utterly content, we finished (not the plateful!) and gazed out into the woods. Aaaaah.
