Well, you can see that it’s a hard knock life down at Camp Baydush on the shores of Lake Anna. Rising according to your own time clock, enjoying coffee and tea out on the back deck while discussing pretty much nothing for quite some time, then mustering the forces for a walk, some breakfast and then adjourning down to the water. Today’s activity? Could be skiing…Lee drops a ski, Deb up on the first try, Jeff up and then down and out with an owie on his hamstring. Dinner for 5? Cocktails for all? Games, games games. Next day, up and at it again….A few hours of lazing on the float by the dock. Lisa heads up and graciously brings us all down fruity cocktails and snacks. Have to find some floats so the little fishies don’t nip at our hairy legs…The difficulties one must endure sometimes is downright appalling! Next day? Lee had a great idea: up at 4:30 and out to the marina to catch some of those fishies. Stacey, he and I were up and out and stepped on the boat with our new best friend John. Off to catch live bait, then heading out with our recon and radar to wherever the rockfish were hanging out. Kind of a cheat to fish that way, but I guess that’s how it’s done around here. Settled into a cove, set up 8 rods with live bait and settled back to wait for hits. As you can see from the pictures, everyone stayed pretty busy – between catching our limit of rockfish, and tossing back the pesky catfish that wanted to get in on the action, before no time we were heading back to the marina to get a stellar picture and set to fileting all of our catch. Home with our bounty and on to the boat for a last day (for Stacey and Jeff, anyway) of tubing. We figured that that would be safe for a group with too many aches and pains to list here. Stacey and I were first, and between the fatigue and our naturally silly nature, we were laughing so damn hard as Lisa whiplashed us back and forth that it was all we could do to hang on while she zipped us across the lake. Then the boys took a turn, but it didn’t seem to amuse them nearly as much. Go figure. Back at the cabin, Stacey and I hopped onto the jetski with Lee to take it for a fillup. No end of amusement in the little marina store, eyeing and spying treats we remembered from childhood. And dontcha know that right by the store was a little trailer named “El Sombrero” selling Mexican food on the weekends. Some of you will know that reference well. Back home for an early supper of fresh-cooked rockfish and then we sadly waved goodbye to the Singers. Aaaaah. Then we shifted into seriously low gear and read and lazed about. Next morning Lisa and I walked 4 miles, which goes so much quicker when yakking the whole time. Home for a hearty breakfast, then down the the water (see what I mean?). I took the sailboat out into the open lake for a couple hours, then back to read and nap. Took the jetboat in to fill ‘er up for next weekend’s fun, then dinner and packed up for our trip back to the big city next morning. I promise it won’t be so long before I return for more fun at Camp Baydush!!!
