Living a good American Life

Spending our time shopping and eating, that is.

Aaah, the luxury of time. Woke up as we did, made a big breakfast with our treats from the market (not before making a fresh baguette and croissant run) and got ready for another day in Provence.

Decided on further, leisurely exploration of the town. I acquired a nice little walking map of the town and took the time to mark on it all of the recommended restaurants and sights of interest. So many winding streets upon which to get lost! Tay, Michael and I started shopping/wandering together, but soon split up. But not before I discovered a store called Le Palais du Thes. I discovered their teas in a shop in New York, which carries only about 8 varieties. This store had about 46, ranging from black to green to Asian and back again. So subtle, fruity and different. About two dozen have little bowls with lids in front of them so as to inhale and select. I knew I would need more time for that task, so I put it on my return list.

Back to the apartment for lunch and rest hour, then Michael, Matt and I head out and north up our street to see the Sextius thermal spas, dating back to the 1400s (ruins discovered a while back, with a new spa built right on some of the foundation of the ancient one). Next stop was down the avenue to the Vendome Pavilion, home to a nice little garden. The pavilion itself now houses a collection of 17th and 18th century furniture. Needless to say, we just hung out in the garden for a bit,

before leaving out the back way and realizing the garden is just at the end of our own block!

We split up and I walked for a while on my own. Walked into a tiny boutique with a lovely woman (who complimented me on my French) and proceeded to try on boots and clothes, yakking all the while. Bought quite a bit and she threw in a beautiful scarf as a gift. Love it!

Back home, rallied the troops, and we went to one of the recommended restaurants that I had scouted out for Greek food in a beautiful little “place”. Here’s the view from my seat at our table:

Several restaurants from our list were within a stone’s throw, so must be the culinary ‘hood. So picturesque and a yummy meal. Strolled by the Scat Club tomcheck into seeing a little jazz later, but the shows do not start until after midnight (now that rings a bell), so we continued out slow walk home.
