Unbelievable! Inconceivable!
Started at historic Piazza Castello square, then off to the Mole Antonelliana – formerly a synagogue and now home to an incredible global cinema museum. Started from the history of photography and on through shadowbox entertainment and on through silent movies up to today. Even had a huge area where you could lay back on mod chaise lounge chairs and watch movie clips (the sound came into each up by the headrest). Because it used to be a synagogue, the elevator ride up to the tippy top (with an incredible city view) rose up through the open rotunda. Pretty trippy.
– then over the the Egyptian museum, which is the 2nd best in the world behind Cairo’s (and evidently first-best if you consider English translations)
Dogs are getting tired, but we mush on. A quick bite, then on and over to the car museum. Incroyable! I thought of Harris a lot of the time – he would love to drive some of these cars. I was so tired that I missed the room with every Ferrari model since they started, but still saw a lot. History of auto from all over the world (and we particularly loved in a movie when they discussed the egotistical car desires of the Americans). A few, including a single passenger car that can go ridiculously fast.
Back to room to rest, then out for dinner at another lovely spot recommended by hosts. Pasta (shocker!) and other pretty darn good food. Off to find truffles tomorrow!
