Leaving this afternoon and ready to go. Singapore is an amazing city-state and it’s location has been critical to development as the financial and commercial hub that it is. To really understand what I’m talking about, roll that mouse over to the left and look under “Resources” and click on Google Maps to check it out… A palette of ethnic populations, and yet every one maintains its distinct culture without any visible animosity. Each is respected and honored in its own space and when moving through anyone else’s. China town, Little India, Little Thailand, Arab Street, and probably others I did not hear or read about. Perhaps they’ve figured something out much of the rest of the world hasn’t, perhaps we all need the cane, or the hook (thank you kurt) to keep things thus. Buildings are rising from the ground higher and higher in order to maximize the limited land they have. As in Boulder, the result is incredibly high real estate prices – an 800 square foot condo is about $2 million US and if it’s detached in some way, or a townhouse-type configuration, the price is closer to $5 million US. Anyway, this girl is bound for Indonesia – a little Eat, Pray, Love will do me just fine (and I’ve already gotten going on the Eat, that’s for sure!). More from the rice paddies later….
