Surprise, Surprise, Surprise! and 3 children together

And as if that weren’t enough, the very next weekend was a surprise trip for Lance. He had no idea where we were going until we arrived at the gate: Vegas! Not really his kind of spot, but he had never been and Stacey and Amir were there for the jewelry show (Jeff would have been, but his sister took ill) as was an old high school buddy, Philip Livingston. So off we went late Friday night.

Upon arrival at the Bellagio, we settled into our room, then came down and sat in the caviar bar and watched the world go by. My honey bought me champagne and caviar – does it get any better than that? Stacey was already asleep, and as of yet, he had no idea she was even there. The next morning, we headed down to the pool and saved a few lounge chairs, then went to the poolside restaurant for breakfast. As we were playing a little post-meal cribbage, she sidled up to the table and asked “may i join you?” Lance was bowled over and the surprise was a lot of fun. We all laid by the pool, and he and I went in for a little nap while Stacey headed over to the show. That night, we met up with Philip and Greg for drinks before meeting Amir for dinner at Michael Mina.

A wonderful meal, including the lobster pot pie (with a whole lobster in it) that Amir splurged on:

it’s hard to tell, but they “put the lobster back together” on the plate, sitting on top of the crust. Quite artful!

After dinner, time for the show: “O” by Cirque du Soleil. My third time seeing it, although the first so close up. It was amazing, as always.

Stacey did a bit of gambling, then we all headed to our rooms.

The next morning, we met Stacey for breakfast, then she headed off to the show. Lance and I spent an hour or so by the pool, then headed to the airport. A short but fun adventure!

After landing in the airport back in Denver, we scooped up Miss Tay, who just arrived from Portland. She’s home for a couple weeks until she heads off to Camp Fernwood for her (?) final summer as a counselor (and perfect timing, because Emma is going to be spending her first summer there as a camper). It’s great to see her, and we meet up with the boys for dinner.

Of course, on the way home, there is mayhem in the back seat of the car:

It’s so nice that some things never change.

And waited until I’m taking her to the airport for camp that I get a great pic of the two of us:
