The Morning (and Day) After

No lying about for us! Up and dressed in white shirts and jeans to appear on Hynda’s lawn by 9 am for family photos.

Not too painful, and over quickly, we then scattered into smaller family units for some of our own snapshots. Here are a couple of the better ones:

And then the grandaddy of them all, the whole Brody clan on the porch:

Time to eat again! Mimosas and leftovers were everywhere, and everyone was happy to indulge and chow on the back porch, which various activities took place. First, there was skeet shooting, graciously hosted by Dr. Dalton.

The set-up:

Game on:

  Getting instruction:

First time, I watched the clay pigeon, aimed and fired. Totally  missed. Second time, I shouted “pull” and don’t remember what happened after that until I saw the disc explode in the air. I guess my spidey senses took over and got the job done. Decided to go out at the top of my game, and handed the rifle over.

Waiting their turn:

That was exhausting, we all need to refuel with some leftovers and especially, turkey soup:

And the inevitable aftermath:

Next up, family kickball. Almost everyone played, as individuals came in and out to eat and lay about.

Marilyn up to kick, and Matthew learned that you never, never, ever catch the ball to put your grandma out!

The home team:

As the game slowly tapered off, everyone headed to their respective nests to do some serious vegetating before going out for dinner (really?) or over to the Shiff homestead for cocktails, art and planet gazing, and yak.

Some of us sitting by the river in back of our house:

Cocktail time:

Taylor giving Isabel instructions on piercing etiquette:

Yak:

and witty repartee:

until the wee hours.
