Up and around the corner to the little shop we passed on our walk yesterday. Cappuccino and pastry for breakfast (Michael’s had olives on one and sliced hot dogs on the other). Then…
– subway down to old part of town
– walked through La Scala and its museum
– walked through Galleria shopping (what a beautiful building) and over to Duomo area
Milan’s largest cathedral and the 5th biggest in the world; took 600 years to build, first stone laid in 1387
– wandered to pinaderia sandwich shop, recommended by Leonardo
– walked by and into Palace Reale museum where we saw exhibit of portraits
– walked to castle and toured a bit
– eyed our way through Brera shopping area. a couple of super-cool stores, but no purchases
– another museum, this time with world’s largest collection of Leonardo da Vinci drawings, a prep-drawing of a huge, wall-sized
fresco by Rafael and a small painting by Michelangelo…who’s missing?
– walked to the large city gardens to rest feet
– checked out gourmet food store called “Peck”; everything is incredible
– subway back to hotel for rest before dinner
– out with Leonardo in mom’s car to spot in “36 hours in Milan” known for risotto
– good meal with excellent appetizer, really good risotto and yummy wine (LOVE the cheese aged in hay)
– back to room to ask feedback from Leonardo on a few things, then finally to sleep after midnight (but not serenaded by Eric).
over and out…
