Boy, oh boy, it’s been a long time! Tried installing a new plug-in for the donate-a-tree-to-suwarrow page and it crashed the whole site. Going to have to hire someone to handle that one, I guess.

All is well. It’s been a really cool (temperature wise) summer, and that’s really impacted the garden. First we fought off pests, who ate all the broccoli, some cauliflower, all of the chard and many beet tops before we installed ultrasonic motion detectors and a barrier 4 feet high of heavy-duty plastic wrap around all 4 walls of the garden. That combination seemed to work pretty well, so everything is coming in nicely now (pictures soon). Made many, many batches of spinach pesto, which Michael and I are loving as a change from basil pesto, enjoying asian mesclun, chard, sugar peas, kale baby broccoli heads and a bit of cauliflower. Not too long now for beets and carrots.

Projects are different every year. Lance has been refilling the woodpile for our awesome Blaze King, bringing logs and trees from the forest, with his trusty steed, Maryann:

and I wielded the new brush cutter for 4ish hours to clear the trail (twice!) and my body hurt in such new and different places when I was done!

the fun never stops, that’s for sure. Working in the garden is daily meditation and talking to the plants is a joy. It’s amazing to watch them grow and produce. We all enjoy the sun’s rays together.

Always fun to be had after a hard day at suwarrow; sometimes it’s shooting the 22 at an old-school, just-like-at-camp target, and sometimes, it’s hopping on the dirt bike for a fun ride up one of the old logging roads. Just whatever suits the mood!
