Eli flew up for a visit before his move to the Big Apple and life of crime at a Dutch bank fostering the consolidation and dominance of the food companies he will gobble up for clients. It was a mellow 5 days, filled with chores and lazing around. As you can see in the featured image for this post, he stacked – with some help from me:
2 cords of wood and chopped what was left as giant tree rings from last summer’s accumulation. suwarrow is all set for a while now!
This took place over a few days, with power-up breakfast of fresh cornbread and smoked bacon (yes, that’s my mug):
strawberry-rhubarb pie from the garden:
On our overcast day, we hiked from Clearwater Crossing up about 4 miles. Saw snow, swollen rushing West Fork of Fish Creek and the most lush, green vegetation likely of the season. Sunday we went out on an adventure with Maryanne. We checked out where Fish Creek Road washed out during the creek’s crest (at the 14-mile point):
That’s Eli all the way down the road by the barrier on the other side.
We also headed up Thompson Creek road to drop in and say hi to a man named Doug that I met at the Iowa State Conservation neighborhood welcome party last summer. We checked out his workshop and discovered so much beautiful live edge wood and chatted with him about purchasing some for suwarrow projects and he seemed most amenable. Excellent!
Headed further up one of the peaks and had a beautiful view of the whole valley and a nice look at suwarrow nestled within. I can’t even contemplate life without Maryanne…she adds so much fun and help to the place.
a great afternoon relaxing, and off to Missoula Monday afternoon to hike Mt. Jumbo – a first for me – and then he was back on that silver bird, winging his way to Boulder. Come back soon, E!!
